Special Project ManagerModernI began working with Modern Piping, Inc.'s Minnesota division in October 2008 and was officially hired in 2009. At the time, I had no background in construction. However, with the support and guidance of my manager and colleagues, I quickly learned how to read specification books and gradually expanded my knowledge across all areas of the construction industry. It was a time of growth—challenging, exciting, and incredibly rewarding.
I’m detail-oriented and enjoy analyzing processes and procedures. I take pride in identifying opportunities for improvement or confirming that we’re on the right path with solid supporting evidence. At my manager’s encouragement, I joined NAWIC Chapter 164. It was one of the best decisions I’ve made. The chapter is filled with strong, confident, and accomplished women who welcomed me with open arms. Being part of the board and serving as Vice President alongside President Jennifer Carlson was a true honor. That experience showed me the power of women supporting women—even in a competitive industry like construction. NAWIC gave us a space to be individuals while working together as a team. Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors. Gladis taught me the value of teamwork. Ruth generously shared her expertise on lien waivers and construction knowledge. My current boss, Nick, believes in my abilities and respects me as a woman in the field. And Jennifer Carlson inspired me to step outside my comfort zone and embrace new challenges. |
